Born in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Katherine has been inspired by art most of her life.
She has travelled extensively and learned from many artists in many art forms including; film, photography, music, dance and the visual arts.
Her artistic career began as a director of film and television programs, more than 18 years ago, when she joined Sound Venture Productions as a partner. Some of her award winning work include: "The Group of Seven-Art for a Nation ""Canvas of Conflict”, "Whole Notes", "Footnotes", "Homes by Design", the Gemini award- winning series "The Toy Castle" and others.
As a filmmaker and visual artist Modern Art has always inspired her. She is intrigued by what makes it avant-garde to the sublime. Her unique style has movement, depth, transparency and a meditative quality that comes from her vocabulary as a filmmaker.
She is influenced by the fast passed digital world we live in, where Loveliness is Fleeting but non-the-less takes a split second for an image to impress and resonate.
Katherine travelled to several countries last year filming an architecture TV series
for BRAVO! These are just some of the bold and beautiful blurred images that captured her imagination to paint.
Through the use of oil and mixed media on board, linen or aluminum her paintings are intensely coloured with many layers.
Her work was selected by galleries at the 2008 New York Art Expo, and her unique style was coined as “Monet meets the digital age”.
Katherine’s art has been shown in feature films and commercial galleries.
