Verne Busby has lived and worked most of his life in Edmonton, Alberta. He received his BA 1972 and Secondary Education Teaching Certificate in1974 from the University of Manitoba. In 1975 he received his permanent British Columbia secondary teaching certificate. Returning to Edmonton he furthered his design experience with studies at Grant McEwan College Design Arts (1977) and the University of Alberta.
In 1981, after several years of agency experience in Edmonton, Verne Busby joined Bella Totino in Totino Busby Design Inc., an independent design and illustration studio. Art and design talent at Totino Busby has attracted a wide range of clientele.
Verne has taught as part time staff at the University of Alberta Faculty of Art and Design, Visual Communications. Verne also moderates life drawing sessions biweekly at the Edmonton Wecan Society, Harcourt House Annex.
My current paintings analyze forms and spaces, not from a traditional or prescribed point of view, but from an intuitive, visceral one. Internal and external landscapes play off each other becoming transitory images. My intent is to express in paint the illuminating and profoundly moving chaotic forces that provide an unlimited visual pageant.
